Camping at the Panorama Hiking Trail
Bodenheim near Mainz is known for its beautiful Vineyards and exceptionally beautiful nature near the Rhine River and of course its traditional Grapes and Wine creations.
Here, at the foot of the hiking trails, where the Albans Statue marks the start of the three hiking trails through the vineyards, is the campsite for mobile homes under 10 meters in length.
A wonderful spot to relax and let the soul roam freely – sunny and a peaceful location with views over the surrounding villages and, of course, amidst the vineyards that make this area so well-known.
The Campsite is for up to 16 mobile homes - free of use for a small donation of 8-12 euros per day for the supply options of water and electricity. Toilets are around the corner, and a winemaker has set up his wine vending machine with refreshments a few meters away and some small shops are within walking distance in the village.

Bodenheim belongs to the wine region of Rheinhessen, which is famously known for its expressive body, freshness and intense character.
The most famous grapes of the region are Merlot, Palas, Pinot Meunier (Schwarzriesling), Riesling/Weißriesling, Pinot Blanc (Weißburgunder), Blanc de Noir (white wine from a red grape), Pinot Grigio (Grauburgunder).
I am visiting the region in early April, and the first buds and wildflowers have already sprouted. In a few weeks, the view here will be a fascinating mix of cyclists, hiking tourists, wine tastings, vine inspections, and nature's play of colours. I look forward to returning soon and maybe joining one of the numerous Wine events here in this lovely town, "Bodenheim am Rhine".
