Gelateria & Bar Orchidea

Bar Galateria Orchidea, with homemade Ice Cream and equally delicious Espresso, this Gelateria on the corner of one of the main streets in the central district of Rome offers interesting views while enjoying Italy's traditionally made sweet delights. It is one of the streets that winds its way through Rome, from the Tiber River to Piazza del Gesù, which is on the opposite side from Gelateria and Bar Orchidea.

The Owner himself makes the Gelato, which comes in various flavours and is indeed the most delicious I have had in Rome. In the display case, alongside the numerous Ice Cream flavours, Tiramisu, Cake, and Pasticcini are presented. The bar has a classic Italian flair and is well-equipped, making it suitable for enjoying a Digestive before a late Dinner, which Italy is well known for.

I am sitting inside, as every outdoor table is taken; my view slips outside, and I am watching in delight as the waves of tourists and locals come and go with the changing lights. Cars, motorbikes, and people rush and wander along the busy streets here at the very corner of Via del Gesù and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, where the crossing is a perfect jumble. I take a sip of the delightful Espresso, a poem of crema and strong roast.

Every step I take along the incredible Streets blows my mind, and every expectation I had of Rome doubles the interest in the beauty of its historic buildings. By walking all day long, I discover more of this incredible city, which takes me in with its outstanding magnificence.

I must admit: I rarely enjoy visiting cities as much as I enjoy my stay here.

One question that comes to my mind again and again is:
Why is Rome in such good shape? The arena stands in full glory; at night, the Colosseum it is lit up in yellow and orange hues, looking unreal and beautiful, almost as if it were from a huge movie set. I am standing in front of it, taking in each opening, arche every stone - crowds walk past, but the bell doesn't ring.

Not only is the Colosseum in Rome, but numerous historical buildings are in excellent condition. This question kept coming up for me, and of course, a Google search answered it. The secret lies in the concrete, which is a mixture of minerals – limestone and volcanic rock – and is self-repairing. This, along with the fact that Rome carries the legend of the Roman Empire, the Vatican City, and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, explains why.

The Piazza del Gesù is home to the Baroque Masterpiece, the Chiesa del Gesù - the Church of Jesus, which is definitely worth a visit. I enjoy another spoon of the most delicious ice cream - that tastes like an ice-cold poem of walnuts slipping down my throat. My Hand reaches for the gorgeous old stone table as I stand up, almost as if I am reaching out to take a piece of the tranquil energy with me.
