Since 1932, Tamburini in Bologna has served and offered Italian cuisine to perfection.
In the store, you will find handmade, fresh Pasta, Mortadella so fine it melts on the tongue, Ham, Salami, Mozzarella, extra virgin Olive Oil and my personal highlight: 30-something-year-old, mature Parmigiano Reggiano - yumm!
I am sitting in front of my laptop, just thinking back, my mouth is dripping. Thanks to yesterday's effort and background checks, I stumbled across the Tamburini website and online shop. So just in case you are looking for a special something, one of Tamburini's gift boxes could be the answer. They are packed with Italy's specialities and wrapped beautifully.

Back to Bologna:
Stepping into the holy walls means inhaling the history and year-old secrets of authentic traditional cuisine. Tamburini is more than a shop; it's a restaurant and wine bar with a few tables in the back serving lunch and dinner. I heard the terrace is packed as can be during the season.
We've been lucky and found a table inside, along with many locals.
We enjoyed some nippes and dessert. While watching the bustling restaurant and people around us, I regret going somewhere else for lunch as this place offers so many delightful plates and has a wide variety of sweet desserts. The food is comforting, and I would call it traditional, authentic Italian cuisine - this cooking style is what you find in a home. Made with love, and the recipe might be picked from one of the handwritten cookbooks, one of those you see in your grandma's shelves. With fingerprints made of tomato sauce and covered every other page in broth. Those books are more valuable than gold. Those books are written by generations of knowledge and passed down to HOPEFULLY the right one. Fingers crossed!
That plate in front of you can't be judged; it has to be admired. For what it is, for how much time and passion it took to create and for yourself to have made up your mind to go on the trip, to travel to Italy, to stop counting calories, to breathe. Last but not least, to be thankful for a plate of history, know-how and passion made especially for you to strengthen yourself and discover more of this spectacular city, known as Bologna.
